At 23:10 local time on December 26, all equipment and the second 132KV line of Uganda’s Karuma Hydropower Station’s Lila substation completed a 24-hour live voltage withstand test, successfully electrified and put into operation.

In order to ensure the success of electrification of the line and substation this time, the consortium discussed and improved the electrification plan many times to eliminate hidden dangers and omissions in the electrification process; made safety and technical disclosures to the on-site commissioning personnel to ensure the safety and reliability of the commissioning process; A systematic inspection was carried out, mainly including the inspection of the entire line, isolating switches, voltage transformers, circuit breakers, communication systems, AC and DC systems, fire alarm systems, fire protection systems, protection systems, and measurement and control systems. .

After substations and lines are electrified one after another, check and verify all equipment and systems again in strict accordance with the electrification plan. During the withstand voltage test, relevant monitoring data will be recorded every hour to ensure the stable operation of the entire system. After 24 hours of live voltage withstand, all equipment meets the requirements for safe and stable operation, and the recorded data of all systems meet the design requirements.

Up to now, Karuma's "four stations and three lines" have completed the live test, which is of great significance to Uganda's economic recovery plan and industrialization process. At present, the Ovia Substation has delivered electricity to the first batch of local users. This move has won high praise and appreciation from the local government and residents for the project department and the company, and has also been unanimously recognized by the owners and supervisors.
